Rangers’ Obaje reacts to Federation Cup win against Plateau United

Rangers forward Godwin Obaje has confessed that he controlled his nerves to score the winning goal for his side in Thursday’s Federation Cup semi-final clash.

The Coal City boys were awarded a penalty in the 90th minute after left-back Philip Clement was hacked down in the box.

The former Nigeria Premier Football League top scorer converted the spot kick to give Rangers a precious win.

Obaje said his thought was about the club’s supporters before taking the penalty, as he was hoping to give the fans something to cheer after a below-par NPFL campaign.

“I have to control my nerves to score the final minute spot kick against Plateau United,” he told the club’s media.

Rangers will take on Bendel Insurance in the final of the Federation Cup at a yet-to-be-announced venue and date.
