The House of Representatives will soon commence sector-by-sector debate and consideration of the 2024 Appropriation Bill, according to its spokesperson Hon. Akin Rotimi.
He stated the Committee on Appropriations has issued allocations by sector for thorough scrutiny, as the next steps are taken in legislative action on the budget proposal.
This comes after the bill passed second reading in the House following two days of debate. Recall President Bola Tinubu presented the 27.5 trillion naira budget proposal to lawmakers last week.
Quotes from Rotimi noted further guidance would be offered to heads of House committees this Saturday by the Appropriations Chairman. The process includes engaging ministries for defense of their budget provisions.
The spokesperson reaffirmed the 10th National Assembly’s commitment to a transparent, inclusive and thorough review, in line with its legislative agenda. The release of allocations now enables detailed examination by each sector at the committee level.
