Rio 2016 Draws: Africa representatives get tough Women’s Olympics opponents


South Africa will confront hosts Brazil face China PR, Sweden in Group B of the preliminary round of the 2016 Olympics women’s football event.

The women’s draw ceremony took place along the men on Thursday afternoon at the Estadio Maracana’s auditorium.

The audience at the auditorium included some esteemed figures, with representatives from all 28 delegations in attendance, as were Dunga and Oswaldo Alvarez, the respective coaches of Brazil’s men’s and women’s teams.

Fellow African representatives and debutantes Zimbabwe will battle Canada, Australia and Germany in Group F.

While Four-time winners USA meet New Zealand, France and Colombia in Group G of the women’s tournament.

The women’s final will be held on August 19.
