Nigeria’s track queen Blessing Okagbare has booked a place in the semi-final of the women’s 200m event at the Rio Olympics.
The 27-year-old progressed after she emerged winner of the Heat 5 easily in a finish time of 22.71s ahead of Great Britain’s Asher-Smith who ran 22.77s. The women duo automatically qualified for the semi-finals.
Okagbare must have to put up a better showing to help her dreams of winning any medal at the Games with finish time looking far from impressive in contracts with fellow her competitors.
It recalled that the Nigerian star crashed out in Rio Olympics 100m semi-final after finishing 3rd in her heat with a time of 11.09s.
