Rio 2016:Egypt beat Rwanda, To Represent Africa in Olympic Women’s Beach Volleyball

Egypt qualified for the Rio 2016 Olympics’ Women’s Beach Volleyball event after they defeated Rwanda in the final of the CAVB Women’s Continental Cup at Jabi Lake Beach on Sunday.

Rwanda 1 were stunned by Egypt 2 2-0 [21-14,21-17] in the first match. Egypt bounced back in the second match 2-1 [21-9,21-18] to force a golden match.

The Egyptians side showed grace under pressure in the golden match with a 2-1 [21-19,21-19] win over the opposite team.

Earlier, Rwanda easily dispatched former African representatives, Mauritius in the semi final but failed to overcome the Rwandans in the golden match which dashed their Rio 2016 qualification dreams.

Following defeat, silver medal winning Rwanda will alongside bronze winners Nigeria represent Africa at the upcoming World Championship.
