Rude Shock Grips Hundreds of Lokoja Residents as “Wonder bank” Dupes
Tempers are boiling in Lokoja, the Kogi state capital as a “Wonder bank” known as “West World Investment”, allegedly duped hundreds of people millions of naira.
SavidNews earlier reported the unfortunate incident but with increasing investigations carried out, it was revealed that most of the victims were petty traders, market women and artisans who were told to pay certain amount of money as deposit to enable them obtain credit facilities ranging from 50,000 thousand to one million naira.
According to some of the victims who spoke to SavidNews, officials of the finance company operating from an office located along Zone 8 in Lokoja, went from street to street to woo unsuspecting customers for patronage under the pretence that they would be given soft loans if they open an account with the company ranging from 10,000 to 100,000 naira.
It was said that the expectant beneficiaries were shocked when they converged on the premises of the company at the appointed date only to discover that officials of the company have bolted away leaving behind an empty office.
SavidNews gathered that all attempts made by the victims to contact the manager proved abortive as his cell phone remained perpetually switched off.
SavidNews also uncovered that the operators of the finance house reportedly paid off their adhoc staffs 40,000 naira each before melting into thin air.
SavidNews understands that the incident have been reported to the relevant security agencies who have launched a manhunt for the fleeing officers of the finance company.When contacted, the police authority confirmed the incident saying that investigation into the case is ongoing.
