Sabo Okala: Confluence Queens coach hails players after Super Six qualification

Confluence Queens Football Club of Lokoja has officially sealed a place in this year’s Super Six after defeating Abia Angels by 2-0 in matchday 13 of the ongoing Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership at the Enyimba Stadium, Aba, on Wednesday.

The Lokoja landladies had the matchday 13 under control for most of the game pressing up front with a scintillating performance, as Mary Mamudu opened the scoring for the away team with a superb strike in the 17th minutes.

The Ododo girls kept attacking and extended their lead through Chinenye Emenike in the 23 minutes.

Confluence Queens started the game in an unbelievable rhythm, taking control of the ball against the host as goals from Mary Mamudu and Chinenye Emenike gave the visitors a 2-0 victory.

Speaking after the match, Sabo Okala said he is super proud of his players for putting in a great fight so far.

“Confluence Queens is one of the biggest teams in the NWFL, and I am excited to contribute to the success of the team.”

After the game, Okala congratulated his players and members of the coaching staff one by one in the locker room for the win.

“Come on, come on, we are already in the Super Six and no one can stop us. I want to thank my chairman and team manager for this rare opportunity to lead the team to this success.” He said.

Chairman of the Lokoja base side NWFL Honorable Abdulmalik Isah (dolly) who is also delighted, praised and congratulated the team.

He urged them to always strive to do the State proud through their chosen sports career.

“Kudos to the girls for their wonderful performances, and I trust them to spring up more.

“I’m highly proud of the team. He however called on technical crew, backroom staff, and everyone involved with the club to work together as a team in order to achieve the task ahead.” Said the Chairman

He also assured the team of the state government’s continual support towards the team.

“I want to assure you all that the government is proud of you and will continue to give every needed support to the club.”

In the same development, the Team Manager of Confluence Queens Mrs Tosin Olorunleke Ojo after the game against Abia Angels applauded and saluted her side for the great show of team spirit and commitment this season. Charged players to remain resolute for the task ahead.

“While also using the medium to thank the state government, and the chairman of the club for their efforts to make funds available to execute matches Indeed we are delighted.” She said.

Confluence Queens have accumulated 24 points from 13 matches played and will welcome Nasarawa Amazons in a derby match next week Wednesday.
