Newcastle United winger Sammy Ameobi has declared he is willing to toe the path of his elder brother Shola to continue his international career with Nigeria.

Sammy, who is in Brazil to cheer on his brother and the Super Eagles, says he wants to play for Nigeria like his elder brother and will continue to support the Super Eagles.

When asked if there will be a chance for him to play for Nigeria soon, Sammy said: “Well, I hope so. We have done all we can do to see that I’ll succeed.

“So Nigeria will have to do whatever they will have to do to get it through really. I am ready whenever.”

The towering striker was part of John Obuh’s squad prior to the Fifa World Youth Championship in Turkey last year, but missed out on the final squad for the tournament.

That raised a few eyebrows but Sammy says that was all in the past as he has made his choice and he is ready to play for Nigeria.

“I’ve made my choice, it is Nigeria now and not England,” he revealed.

The 22-year-old striker made 12 appearances for Newcastle’s first team in all competitions and is expected to be an integral part of the team in the coming season.
