This week in Ilorin, Kwara state, the National Council on Establishments of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is holding a meeting to finally take land-mark decision to implement the Federal Government policy of June, 2006 reversing the retrogressive ceiling in career progression on the path of H.N.D Holders in the Public Service.

In a statement jointly issued and signed by the Nigerian Association of Technologists in Engineering (NATE) Kogi State branch, Mr. David Chukuka Mkpuluma Kogi state Branch Chairman, and Mr. Salami Bamidele Ojake Branch Secretary which copy was made available to newsmen in Lokoja said that the step is no doubt a new door for the Technological Breakthrough to facilitate the transformation agenda of Mr. President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan.

“The Nigerian Association of Technologists in Engineering (NATE) Kogi State branch, salute the courage of the present H.O.S of the Federation to lay this matter to rest in order to save this country from technological backwardness, infrastructural decay, frequent incidents of collapsed building and a host of other ills associated with this stagnation and frustration of these set of hardworking, knowledgeable and competent Professionals in Engineering” the statement added.

The Association therefore called on Kogi state Head of Service, Dr. Moses Atakpa to join the rank of order progressive H.O.S from other state to ensure the implementation of this new Federal Government Policy.

“We are sure this will open the door for rapid technological innovation that will transform Kogi State. The good people of Kogi are watching this man of integrity”

It would be recalled that in 2010, attempt was made to lay this issue to rest, but the meeting of NEC at Uyo could not summon political will and failed to do what was right.
