Shehu, Rabiu, Umar returns for Kano Pillars in Continental battle

Super Eagles trio of Shehu Abdullahi, Rabiu Ali and Umar Zango have resumed camp for training with Kano Pillars following their arrival from African Nations Champions in South Africa.shehu abdullahi-1

The three players who were integral part of the tournament for Stephen Keshi led home-based Eagles that won the third place made a sensational return to camp ahead of the club’s CAF Champions League and 2013/2014 Nigeria Premier League campaign.

Confirming the development,the club’s spokesperson Idris Milikawa said that all the three players are due to be in camp on Wednesday, noting that the CHAN Eagles’ attacker Rabiu Ali is already in camp and even trained with the teammates on Tuesday evening.

He noted the Chairman of the club Alhaji Yaba Yola has directed all the players to return for a close camping at Samir Palace Hotels, Airport road, Kano.

The Vice Chairman of Premier League Media Officer’s Forum noted that the club will not engage in any friendly match before their trip to Congo.
“Rabiu (Ali) has already resumed camp yesterday, but Shehu (Abdullahi) and Umar (Zango) will join us on Wednesday in Kano.

“We are all in for a close camping, and will not be playing any friendly before our trip to Congo. We’ve not played any since we concluded the Super Four (Pre-season Tournament) and will not play before we leave for Congo,” he revealed.

Meanwhile, Goal.com reports that the Nigeria league back-to-back champions will depart the country for Congo on Friday for their CAF Champions League’s first leg preliminary round encounter against AS Vita of DR Congo.

The delegation of players and officials will on Friday morning leave Aminu Kano International airport, Kano directly to N’Djili International Airport, Kinshasa via a chartered flight.

“We (Kano Pillars) will be leaving the country on Friday DR Congo by a chartered flight,” he confirmed to Goal.

The Nigeria league champions start up their continental campaign against their Congolese opponents on Sunday, February 9 in the Congo Brazzaville by 3:30pm Nigerian time.
