Sosoliso Plane Crash: Victims’ Parents Hold 10th Anniversary Procession


The memories of the 2005 Sosoliso plane crash in Port Harcourt that killed 107 persons on board including 60 students of Loyola Jesuit College in Abuja is still fresh in the minds of their families and friends.

It was 10 years on Thursday, December 10, 2015.

Parents of the 60 students gathered at the Port Harcourt International Airport in the Rivers State capital to hold a procession in remembrance of the victims who they referred to as the 60 angels.

It was a candle light procession in remembrance of those they say will remain in their hearts for a long time to come.

Parents, relatives and friends of the 60 students of Loyola Jesuit College Abuja thronged the airport to join the procession.

One of the two survivors, Kechi Okwuchi was also present at the event. She told Channels Television that she was there to show solidarity.

On the sidelines, some relatives were also grieving the loss of their loved ones who were on the ill-fated plane. Some parents told Channels Television that their loss remained irreplaceable.

Asides the emotional procession, there was also the unveiling of Obelis Memorial for the victims at Jesuit College in Port Harcourt.

The representative of the Minister of State of Aviation, Samuel Caulcrick, believes lessons have been learnt from the crash.
