Former Chan Eagles defender Solomon Kwambe’s proposed move to Lobi Stars may hit the rock after Sunshine Stars refused to submit his clearance to Lobi Stars, who have made offers to sign the player, Goal has reliably gathered.

Lobi Stars had initially wanted to sign the right-back on a season-long loan deal with an option of a permanent deal, but were turned down by Sunshine, who owns the economic rights to the player.

When Lobi’s loan bid was rejected, they went back with an offer to sign the 22-year old on a permanent basis, but have also been rebuffed by Sunshine, who are said to want the player to return ahead of the start of the new season.

Goal however understands that Kwambe prefers to play for Lobi – his hometown club – in the new season, as he wants to be closer to his family.

The transfer window is still open for another month and a deal could still be reached, but sources have informed Goal that Sunshine Stars would rather have the player back as they aim to win the league title next season, or get a continental ticket at least.

The Akure Gunners led for large parts of last season, but ended finishing sixth on the table.
