Ex Nigerian international, Taribo West has said the Nigerian senior football team; Super Eagles will perform exceedingly well at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The former Super Eagles defender who spoke with Daily Trust at the weekend at the Abuja National Stadium warned that the boys should not be underrated.

“We have a very good team and there are nothing to fear about at this present time. What I have seen in this young lads is that they can make a very strong champions team.”

He added: ” There is togetherness, spirit of oneness and love in the team. When you take a team like that to a tournament, you can’t predict them.”

While speaking on the clamour from some quarters that Osaze Odemwingie and Ikechukwu Uche be reintroduced into the team, West maintained that the present team has the passion for the game and the desire to run for every ball.

“When this kind of ingredient is available in a team, it makes the team strong as a unit against any opponents.”

He was however fast to add that the defence was the only area where experience should be added.

“Joseph Yobo should be reintroduced into the team. His experience is highly needed in that position. With that, the defence will be strong enough to withstand the firepower from the likes of Argentina and Bosnia.”
The ex defender pointed out that striker Emmanuel Emenike has all that it takes to lead the line for the African champions in Brazil.

He pleaded with Nigerians to allow the team’s coach, Stephen Keshi do his job as only him know the players that can achieve success for the team.

West also said a foreign assistant shouldn’t be imposed on Keshi, insisting that authorities should allow the former Mali national team handler concentrate on his job.
