SURE-P Tour: Kogi NUJ Chair seek improved Politicians, journalists ties

The chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists Kogi State Capter, Ali Atabor has said that the journalists and the politicians have to play complementary role if the people at the grassroots are to enjoy good governance and efficient service delivery.

The chairman stated this on Wednesday in Abejukolo, headquarters of Omala Local Government, Area when he led journalists on an inspection tour of projects executed under the Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme,(SURE-P).

While commending the chairman of Omala for the timely and quality execution of SURE-P projects, Atabor, noted that the council’s commitment to ensuring the Security of lives and property was tremendous.

According to the NUJ chairman, majority of the councils visited so far have been able to use judiciously the fund they have received in the first and second phases of SURE-P.

The council chairman of Omala LGA, Labaran Oyigebe, in his response commended NUJ for taking the pain to check the extent of job done under phases one and two of SURE-P projects

The chairman who was represented by the vice chairman of the council, Emmanuel Bala
noted that journalists and politicians are partners in progress in the social economic development of the society.

According to him, all projects undertaken by the council were products of town hall meeting held to determine the needs of the people, saying that this has brought sanity to the entire process.

He said his administration is people based, this he said accounted for the relative peace in the area, calling on the people t0 make judicious use of the projects in the their communities.
