Suspected Boko Haram sect kills Yobe pastor and children

Assailants suspected to be members of the Boko Haram sect have killed a pastor and his two children during an attack in Doruwa, Garin-Baba village in Nangere Local government area of Yobe State.

The military spokesman of the 3 Division Special Operation Battalion, Captain Eli Lazarus, who confirmed the incident in a statement, said the insurgents stormed the area in the early hours of Thursday.

They allegedly burnt down a church and some houses in the village before fleeing the scene.

“In the early hours of Thursday, unknown gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram terrorists attacked Dorawa village in Nangere Local Government Council of Yobe State. During the attack, a pastor and his two children were killed,” Lazarus said.

The ages of the victims were not disclosed.

The insurgents, who numbered eight, arrived at the village early morning on two motorcycles and killed the residents before burning a local church and five other houses in the village.

Lazarus said no arrests had been made but efforts were being intensified to arrest the perpetrators.

He enjoined law abiding citizens not to providing information that could help security agencies arrest the perpetrators and overcome terrorism in the state and the country.
