Ten Hag ‘Killed’ Ronaldo and Sancho with Comments – Enrique
Former Liverpool defender Jose Enrique has claimed that Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag “killed” Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho with his public comments about the players.
Ronaldo and ten Hag had a fractured relationship last season, with the Portugal star criticizing the manager in an interview. United ultimately terminated Ronaldo’s contract.
Sancho has also fallen out with ten Hag and hasn’t featured regularly despite being dropped on social media for his training output.
Enrique told Daily Star Sport that ten Hag’s comments on Ronaldo, a huge star, “killed him”. Though he handled a big issue well, it was wrong to speak to the press.
He added that ten Hag’s remarks about Sancho’s training were also “wrong” and these types of things “need to keep private between themselves”.
The former defender feels the public criticism from the manager damaged both Ronaldo and Sancho’s standing at the club.
