Unity Cup Launches in October in Abuja

The Unity Cup football competition will be lunched in Abuja on 3rd October, 2013, organisers have said.

The National Project Director of the competition, Moses Ebahor said that the unveiling/fund raising ceremony will mark the commencement of the competition.

He said the Zonal Coordinators of the project were already constituted, adding that the tournament will begin from the zones.

According to him: “the competition will begin on 10th of October and will run to the end of the year.”

Ebahor noted that the project was conceived to help unite Nigerian youths in the eyes of security challenges in the country.

He stressed that since football is a unifying factor in the country, Nigerians would be brought together through the competition.

Meanwhile, the National Organising Committee of tournament, within the week, paid a courtesy call on the Chairman of Nigerian Social Insurance Trust Fund, Dr. Ngozi Olejemi to solicit for her supports for the competition.

Dr. Olejemi who was presented a certificate as ‘Mother of the Nigerian Youths’ in recognition of her contributions to youths development in the country, pledged her supports for the project.

While commending the organisers for the initiative, she noted that the competition is timely following the security challenges in the country.
