Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) FC of Ilorin has said its 1-0 victory over Gabros of Nnewi would spur it to regain promotion to the Globacom Premier League next season.

ABS General Manager Alloy Chukwuemeka made the assertion while reacting to the team’s win on Sunday in Ilorin.

“The win over Gabros was a good one for us in our quest to return to the premiership from the Nigeria National League (NNL) which kicked off on Saturday.

“In fact, we deserve commendation having lost a record 24 players and yet we are able to raise a team capable enough to win our opening match.

“We will continue to build the team from here. To be on top of the league table with the first match will boost us the more,” he said.

The manager commended the proprietor of the club, Sen. Bukola Saraki for the confidence he reposed in the club.

He also extended appreciation to the club’s fans for strongly believing in the team and the management.

It would be recalled that ABS was among the four premiership clubs relegated to the NNL at the end of the 2012/2013 Globacom Premier League.

The others are Shooting Star Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, Wikki Tourists and Kwara United of Ilorin.

Also reacting, Coach Moshood Adebayo of ABS thanked God for the victory, saying the team would improve with every game.

ABS will now play two away matches consecutively against First Bank in week two in Lagos and Akwa Starlets of Uyo in week three.
