Want-away Kogi-star Gbenga Arokoyo confirms Request to quit Mjallby
Kogi-born former Nigeria U-20 defender Gbenga Arokoyo has confirmed formally dropping a transfer request to quit Swedish club Mjallby AIF.
Arokoyo, who spoke to SavidNews.com in an exclusive chat corroborated his agent Goke Oshatoba statement on the written transfer request that has been handed to the Swedish top-flight club.
“Yes, it is true, I have enjoyed a very good time at Mjallby after playing two full seasons, I think its right time call it a quit and to move to a better club in Europe. I’m indeed very grateful to the people at Mjallby who gave me a memorable stay,” he revealed.
Earlier statements according to his agent says, “Gbenga has formally asked that he quit Mjallby. His contract will be up by next year November.”
The former Kwara United star has already hinted that he wishes to take his career to another level.
It is believed that the tall central defender has concrete offers on the table from clubs in Sweden and France.
The 21-year-old Arokoyo has shone for the modest Swedish side since he moved there in 2012 and managed a goal in nearly 50 matches played.
This past season, they finished 11th on the table with 36 points from 30 matches after a flying start to the campaign.
However, they have witnessed an exodus of their top stars soon after last season.
