Sule, a former Super Eagles utility player who assumed duty only two weeks ago disclosed this while speaking with sports journalists at the 25,000 capacity Confluence Stadium, Lokoja on Tuesday.

Sule was appointed following the resignation of his former boss, Malam Abdul Adama who threw in the towel on personal grounds.

The new chairman said that Adama had laid a good foundation for the clubs adding: “I will take over this foundation and build it gradually, gradually to the top and the top is the premiership though few new changes may be introduced.

“I tell you, we are preparing Kogi United for the premiership. That is our target for now. Actually, it is not going to be an easy task and so, we will do everything possible to make sure we get through”, he said.

Sule however assured that a well-structured team was in place with good players and a good coach who we believe, can deliver. So, in this aspect I think we are ready for the league.

On finance, the administrator said his clubs never lacked funds since Governor Idris Wada took over adding: “For now, we haven’t got any financial problems. The teams are adequately funded.”

Asked why Kogi United failed to qualify for the state FA cup, the chairman described the last qualifying match as a disaster.

“Actually, we did not believe it. When it was 10 to five minutes to the end of the game we started to question ourselves on what went wrong that we drew 1-1 with the team.

“But, like I said, it is football, a lot of things changed. Unfortunately, we could not get there but that game opened our eyes and we are now working on identified problems.”

Sule hinted that depending on the clubs’ performance this season, the club’s management might strike a new and bigger deal with Hummel – the sportswear makers, this year.

Kogi United were at the recent Nigeria National League (NNL) draws in Abuja grouped in Division A1 alongside Kaduna United, Adamawa United, Plateau United, Yobe Desert Stars, Jigawa Golden Stars, Supreme Court and Spotlight FC.

The Kogi team is expected to kick start the new season with a home match against Spotlight of Katsina on May 2, at the 25,000 capacity Confluence Stadium, Lokoja.
