Welfare of Civil Servants is Govt Top Priority – Kogi HOS

Civil Servants in Kogi State have been assured that the State Government would continue to improve on their working condition to enable them drive the transformation agenda of the government through improved productivity.

The State Head of Service, Dr. Moses Atakpa, gave this indication in a chat with the Press in his office in Lokoja.

He disclosed that arrangements were being made to provide necessary amenities for the new secretariat complex recently completed and commissioned by the State Government, to enable the concerned MDAs to move into the complex very soon.

These amenities, he said, included stand-by generating plant, water, internal partitioning and furnishing.

Dr. Atakpa said Government was adopting a holistic approach to the issue of worker’s welfare to make them one of the most efficient civil servants in the Country.

The Head of Service further disclosed that the Labour Union and his office are partnering with a property developing company, the City Point outfit, to provide affordable houses for civil servants to complement the owner–occupier programme of the State government, which he described as a continuous process.

On the forth-coming Civil Service Week celebration in the State, Dr. Atakpa said a high point of celebration would be a symposium that will put in perspective the progress that the State has made since inception in terms of service delivery.

He commended Governor Idris Wada for giving priority attention to the welfare of civil servants.

The Head of Service advised civil servants to continue to update their knowledge for effective service delivery.
