Who is Edwin Okon? Find out……..

okon 2Super Falcons caretaker manager, Edwin Okon was born in Cross Rivers State, on 19th October, 1970.

Okon was an assistant coach with the senior women’s national team of Nigeria before he was mandated to head the technical crew of the U20 side, otherwise known as the Falconets.

He has a coaching certificate from the National Institute for Sports, Lagos and has worked with several leading clubs in the country including Rivers Angels, and won laurels with them.

He led the Falconets through the African Qualifying series for the 2012 FIFA U20 World Cup, with his wards scoring 13 goals and conceeding none.

The dark-skinned tactician managed the team to a 4th place at the mundial. His team got applause for their all out attacking style and tactical approach to the game.

He led Rivers Angels to a 2nd place finish in the 2012 Nigeria Women Football League, and won the NFF Cup the same year.

In the 2012/2013 NWFL regular season, his team finished tops in the Pool B, ahead of archrivals, Bayelsa Queens and Pelican Stars.

His girls will be facing Nasarawa Amazons, in the final of the 2013 NFF Fed Cup in Lagos.

The 42-year-old gaffer will be leading the Falcons, to two international friendlies against current world champions, Japan, on 22nd and 26th September respectively.
