The choice of Honourable James Abiodun Faleke as the All Progressive Congress, APC governorship running mate to Prince Abubakar Audu was aimed at fostering greater unity within the fold of the party.

This was contained in a statement issued by Audu/Faleke group and signed by Stanley Ajeleye, a copy of which was made available to newsmen in Lokoja yesterday.

The group who was reacting to the statement credited to Yagba union, stated that the statement was rather sponsored by detractors who are already apprehensive of the imminent collapse of the structure of under-development which they have foisted on Kogi State for over twelve years now.

It stated that it was erroneous to believe that it was aimed at shut out the Yagba people from APC.
The group stated that Prince Abubakar Audu has never deprived Yagba people the opportunity of having a senator by hijacking the process, saying this is an unfortunate reasoning.
The statement further read” It is equally unthinkable that anyone will say that Prince Abubakar Audu used the oil subsidy trial to stop Hon. Bamidele Aro from contesting the APC Senatorial ticket when it is a well known fact that Audu is not EFCC. Neither is he in any position to influence the Federal Agency

” That APC coerced Prince Babatunde Irukera to step down from the governorship primary of the party is a lie from the pit of hell. The party has no such power and such a reasoning sounds too un-intellectual. For the avoidance of doubt, one may ask why do we still see many aspirants in the race till the end. The truth is that those that stepped down, did so on their own, based on their belief on the need to put party’s interest above their personal interest.

” Truly, Hon Faleke is an active player in Lagos politics, he remains one of the pillars of APC not only in Kogi State but in all APC states in the South West Nigeria. Hon. Faleke, more than anybody else, has been a passionate financier of APC and he was one of the architects of the arrangements that led to the merger of the defunct ACN and ANPP in Kogi state few years ago”, the statement said.
