Wife of Kogi Governor Launches Tree Planting Programme

Wife of Kogi Governor, Hajia Halima Wada have called on Kogi women in the state to cultivate the habit of tree planting in their environment.

She stated this at the flag-off of tree planting in Lokoja on Thursday.

She said she is initiating tree planting so as to check-mate climate change in the state tagging the initiative as “Green for Cash”.

She said the need to plant trees in our environment cannot be overemphasized as it reduces the menace of environmental pollution.

She enjoins women in the state to ensure gardening in their environment as it helps the families towards achieving better standard
of living as well as generating income.

Speaking at the occasion the commissioner of women affairs and social development Mrs. Patience Mameh called on the wives of the local government chairmen in the state to emulate the first lady of the state by planting trees in their various areas.

In a remark the wife of Lokoja Local Government Chairman Hajia Fatima Usman commended the wife of the governor for the project and assured that the chairpersons across the local governments in the state would support the project.

Highlight of the occasion is the planting of tree by the wife of the governor Hajia Halima Wada, the wife of the deputy governor Mrs. Tokunbo Awoniyi, commissioner of women affairs and social development Mrs. Patience Mameh as well as the wife of Lokoja Local Government chairman.
