Wigan boss confident of keeping key players

Wigan Athletic manager Owen Coyle has intimated that the sought-after members of his squad may well be at the DW Stadium come next season.

The Scot told the Wigan Observer that he did not expect any more departures from the club.

This appears to suggest that the likes of Callum McManaman, James McCarthy, Ali Al-Habsi and Shaun Maloney will remain at the club despite relegation to the Championship.

Coyle said: “We don’t want to lose any of the players at the club. The ones I have spoken to have certainly intimated they’d like to play their part next year.”
