Right tackle Michael Bamiro, line backer Emmanuel Acho, Wide receiver Ifeanyi Momah and tight end Emil Igwenagu, whose parents are all Nigerians, said they were at the grounds to watch the Nigerian team and offer their support.

“I was born and raised in Nigeria, and when we heard they were practicing here, we had to come see them,” said Acho.

“We have to support the team there. There is a connection between the Eagles and the Super Eagles. Same name, same colour, green. So it’s still our team.

“I’m so happy to be here, I gave been watching them since I was growing up with my parents and it’s such a great experience to be here watching them,” Bamiro said.

“It feels good. Growing up, my parents encouraged me to play the sport because it’s the big one back home.

“Now, we just want to support the boys and I’m confident the will win the World Cup,” said Igewnagu.

“It means everything to me to be here to show some support and root for my home team. I’m very excited. It’s the first time I’ve seen the Nigerian team in person and it feels great.”

The Eagles players took photographs with the Super Eagles before departing.
