With Nigerians celebrating Christmas in excitement and joy, residents of Kabba are witnessing a severe distress as a branch of the nationwide UBA Bank in Kabba have been heavily occupied by men of security agencies following alert over the possible strike of armed robbers on the Christmas day.
SavidNews had earlier that business activities in Kabba, which is the headquarters of the Western district in Kogi state has been grounded since Wednesday December 17.
Series of threats from the league of arms robbers who already earlier struck in Okene heightened fears among operatives of banks which necessitated the closure of various financial institutions in the area.
Bank customers had since been compelled to travel to Lokoja, the state’s capital in order to make cash withdrawal and as well sending monies to the loved ones for the celebration of the festive season.
Our correspondent, who reports from Kabba on Thursday morning – Christmas Day, said the security operatives – police, military are fully on ground, armed and positioned to avert any possible robbery attack.
A security agent, who spoke to our correspondent on condition of anonymity, said their command was alerted by officials at the bank about some strange faces around the bank and scary notice of an imminent attack.
SavidNews gathered that UBA, though not opened to full operations have decided to avail cash in their Automated Transfer Machines (ATMs) for customers including those from other banks to access funds to celebrate christmas.
How guarded and capacity-loaded are the security men on ground to combat the unexpected arrival of gunmen remains another matter to instigate fear.
