Yagba West Legislative Council Suspends Supervisory Councilor

In an effort to check the excesses of political appointees in the council, the legislative arm of Yagba west Local Government has suspended the Supervisory councilor for works, Hon Aremu Sunday.

As contained in a resolution signed by the leader of the legislative council and obtained by Savidnews.com, the councilors said it took the decision at a sitting held on Monday, December 16, 2013 after deliberating on various reports of its oversight function.

According to the document, the legislators invited Hon Aremu over some projects executed by the Local Government, to which he claimed that all projects executed were satisfactorily done.

It stated that the construction of a drainage at Oke-Ere at the cost of N5,316,600 and that the project was successfully carried out under his supervision.

The document however stated that the councilors later found out that the job was not completed and that the completed job was estimated to be far below the money claimed to have been expended.

It further added that the supervisory councilor failed to produce the bill of quantity in respect of the project; hence they discovered that Hon Aremu Sunady is incompetent for the duty assigned him and therefore suspend the supervisor from office.

Copies of the suspension have, according to the resolution, been made available to the Kogi Sate House of Assembly, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Odo-Are, the Criminal Investigagtion Bureau (CIB), Yagba West LGA and the State Security Service (SSS).
