De Defenders’ Yusuf Farouk and Safety Babes’ Ada Oke have voted the Most Valuable Players of the men and women categories respectively for the opening day of the second phase of the Prudent Energy Handball League in Lagos.
Farouk guided De Defenders to beat Kada Stars 30-23 in a tensed match, while Oke scored the crucial winner which helped the Road Safety girls escape defeat at the hands of more experienced Imo Grasshoppers.
In a reward for their impressive showing on the day, Farouk and Oke went home with a plague as well as a cash gift of 10 thousand naira each courtesy of the organizers of the league, Prudent Energy.
Both players will eagerly look to replicate their fine form on the second day when De Defenders take on Plateau Vipers in the male category by 10am, while Kada Queens squares up with Desert Queens by 8am on Thursday.
