Anthony Dennis nears Goztepe exit
One time Nigeria invitee Anthony Dennis is edging closer to a departure from Turkish side Goztepe, with a transfer expected to be finalized in the coming days.
Sources close to the highly rated defensive midfielder revealed that discussions over his next destination have reached an advanced stage.
“The boy’s transfer is close, in a few days we will all know,” a source close to Dennis disclosed.
Dennis, who has attracted interest from several clubs across Europe and beyond, appears set to end his stint with Goztepe as the Turkish outfit have softened their stance on his departure.
The club, which had previously played hardball over transfer negotiations, are now pushing for an exit after entering the final year of his contract. With just 12 months remaining on his current deal, Goztepe are keen to cash in on one of their prized assets rather than risk losing him for free next summer.
It was also gathered that the midfielder turned down a lucrative offer from the United Arab Emirates, opting instead to continue his career in mainland Europe, where he believes he still has unfinished business.
Recently promoted Premier League side Coventry City have been among the clubs linked with the Nigerian midfielder, whose stock has continued to rise following his impressive performances in Turkey.
In a further indication that a transfer is imminent, Goztepe have excluded Dennis from their ongoing pre-season fixtures in Slovenia to avoid any potential injury complications ahead of a move.
