Barau FC maintain unbeaten start as Ikorodu City settle for stalemate
Barau FC of Kano continued their impressive start to the 2026/27 NPFL season, holding hosts Ikorodu City to a goalless draw at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos on Saturday.
The Maliya Boys came into the encounter unbeaten in their opening three matches, with two wins and a draw, and once again showed their resilience on the road to pick up another valuable point.
Both sides created chances in an entertaining contest, but neither could find the breakthrough. Ikorodu City’s Farouk Salami and Michael Ujunwa came close, while Barau FC had opportunities through Joseph Atule and Kumaga Suur.
The woodwork was also tested on several occasions, while Barau FC goalkeeper Michael Atata produced a superb save to keep the hosts at bay.
At the final whistle, it remained goalless, with Ikorodu City recording their first clean sheet of the campaign.
In Kano, Ranchers Bees maintained their perfect home record with a 2-1 victory over Bendel Insurance at the Sani Abacha Stadium.
Chiedozie Jude Okorie marked his return from suspension in style, opening the scoring four minutes after the restart. Bendel Insurance responded through Lekan Gabriel just six minutes after the hour mark.
But the Bees had the final say, as star man Rabiu Zulkifilu struck 11 minutes from full time to secure another home victory for Ranchers Bees.
Meanwhile, Katsina United claimed a narrow 1-0 win over Niger Tornadoes, with Abdulrahman Garba’s 21st-minute strike proving enough to settle the contest.
More Matchday Four action continues on Sunday, with the Oriental derby between Kun Khalifat and Rangers among the fixtures, while Plateau United host Shooting Stars in Jos.
