Bayelsa tops medals table after Day 4 of 2024 National Sports Festival
Bayelsa State maintained its early dominance at the 22nd National Sports Festival, tagged Gateway Games, as it led the medals table at the end of Day 4 with an impressive haul of 16 gold, 6 silver, and 5 bronze medals.
Defending champions Delta State made a significant leap from Day 3 to claim second place, amassing 10 gold, 5 silver, and 6 bronze medals.
Osun State currently sits in third with 6 gold and 1 silver medal, closely followed by Rivers State in fourth position with 5 gold, 3 silver, and 4 bronze medals.
Lagos State rounds out the top five with 4 gold, 7 silver, and 10 bronze medals.
Oyo State occupies sixth place with 4 gold, 2 silver, and 6 bronze medals, while Akwa Ibom follows in seventh with 4 gold and 1 silver. Plateau State holds eighth position with 3 gold, 2 silver, and 6 bronze medals.
Cross River is ninth with 3 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze medal, as hosts Edo State sits in tenth place with 2 gold, 15 silver, and 16 bronze medals.
The Invited Junior Athletes (IJA) team holds the 11th spot with 2 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze medal.
A total of 199 medals have been won so far at the festival, comprising 61 gold, 61 silver, and 77 bronze medals.
