CAF crisis talks looms as Patrice Motsepe moves to steady ship
The Confederation of African Football is stepping into a decisive moment, with its Executive Committee convening an emergency meeting on March 29 aimed at restoring stability and clarity within its leadership structure.
Chaired by CAF President Patrice Motsepe, the high-level session is expected to critically review recent rulings by the CAF Appeal Committee decisions that have sparked debate and raised questions about governance consistency across the continent’s football ecosystem.
Beyond the legal considerations, attention will also shift to the administrative vacuum left by the departure of Veron Omba Mosengo, who stepped aside due to age-related reasons.
The committee is likely to deliberate on immediate and long-term solutions to fill the crucial Secretary General role.
With both regulatory concerns and leadership restructuring on the table, the outcome of the meeting is seen as pivotal in shaping CAF’s next phase particularly in strengthening institutional credibility and ensuring more streamlined decision making processes across African football.
