Five-star Super Falcons crush Copper Queens to reach WAFCON 2024 semifinals

Date: Friday

Venue: Casablanca, Morocco

Event: WAFCON 2025 Quarter-final

Result: Nigeria 5–0 Zambia

Nigeria's Super Falcons delivered a ruthless performance on Friday, demolishing Zambia 5-0 to secure a record 13th semi-final appearance at the Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The Falcons, nine-time champions, struck early—Osinachi Ohale heading home just 100 seconds in from an Esther Okoronkwo free-kick.

Okoronkwo, Chinwendu Ihezuo, Tosin Demehin, and Folasade Ijamilusi added to the tally in a match dominated by Nigeria.

Captain Rasheedat Ajibade, who assisted two goals and orchestrated play throughout, was named Woman of the Match.

Despite Zambia's strong run in the group stage, the Super Falcons neutralized their threats, especially star strikers Barbra Banda and Rachael Kundananji.

Nigeria now awaits the winner of Saturday’s clash between defending champions South Africa and Senegal in the semi-finals.

The emphatic victory reinforces Nigeria's dominance in African women's football—and signals that the Falcons are still very much the team to beat.
