Folashade Ijamilusi arrives as flight disruption delay Monday, Abiodun ahead of WAFCON
The Nigeria's senior women's national team camp in Casablanca received another boost on Tuesday with the arrival of forward Folashade Ijamilusi, taking the number of players in camp to 23 ahead of the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations.
Ijamilusi, who plays for Chinese side Liaoning Shenyang Shenbei Hefeng, landed in Morocco shortly before 3 p.m. after completing her journey from China.
The former Nigeria youth international was one of the standout performers at the last WAFCON, scoring twice, including the Super Falcons' crucial equaliser in their dramatic 3-2 comeback victory over hosts Morocco in the final.
However, midfielder Deborah Abiodun and forward Gift Monday were unable to join the team as scheduled after their flight from the United States was cancelled due to technical issues. Both players had already arrived at the airport before learning of the disruption, prompting the Nigeria Football Federation to secure new flight arrangements for the duo.
The defending champions have continued preparations at the La Noria Club in Casablanca before departing for Rabat, where they will play their Group C fixtures against Malawi, Egypt and Zambia.
The team's official arrival meeting with the Confederation of African Football and the Local Organising Committee is set for Saturday, July 25, while Nigeria will begin their title defence against Malawi next Tuesday.
