Joy Omewa scores late winner as Häcken move closer to Damallsvenskan title

Nigeria forward Joy Omewa scored an 89th-minute penalty to help Häcken secure a crucial 2-1 away victory over Växjö in the Swedish Damallsvenskan.

Häcken took the lead in the 26th minute through an own goal by Alice Broman before Växjö equalised through Elin Nilsson in the 68th minute.

With the match heading towards a draw, Omewa stepped up to convert a penalty in the 89th minute, securing all three points for Häcken and moving the club closer to retaining the league title.

The victory leaves Häcken needing just one more win to seal the championship, although they could also retain the title if their rivals, Hammarby, drop points.

Omewa was substituted in the 90+1st minute, with Malawi international Faith Chinzimu coming on in her place.

The Nigerian forward also recorded her longest appearance since joining Häcken, underlining her growing involvement as the club approaches the decisive stage of the title race.
