Kwara United unveil 16 signings in bold NPFL title push
Kwara United Football Club of Ilorin has unveiled 16 new additions to its squad ahead of the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, underlining the club's determination to compete for the league title and reclaim the President Federation Cup.
Speaking during Wednesday's unveiling ceremony at the club's secretariat, Chairman Kumbi Titiloye said the recruitment drive was necessitated by the exit of several players whose contracts had expired, while emphasizing that every signing was made to improve the team's competitiveness across all departments.
The club retained 14 members of last season's squad, with departing players either moving on after the expiration of their deals or seeking fresh challenges elsewhere.
Titiloye made no secret of the club's ambitions for the new season, insisting that the Harmony Boys are setting their sights on domestic dominance.
"Our target this season is to finish at the top of the league and win every available trophy. We want to win the NPFL title and reclaim the President Federation Cup," he said.
The Kwara United chairman added that lessons have been learned from last season's campaign, assuring supporters that the team would adopt a more focused and determined approach.
"We are treating every game like a World Cup final. The mistakes of last season will not be repeated," Titiloye stated.
He also expressed gratitude to the Kwara State Government led by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and the Kwara State Sports Commission for their continued support, which he described as instrumental to the club's growth and aspirations.
With a significantly revamped squad and lofty expectations from the club hierarchy, Kwara United will hope their blend of experienced campaigners and fresh talent can translate into success when the 2026/27 NPFL season kicks off.
