NPFL Matchday seven wrap: Bendel Insurance thrash Barau as Rangers, Enyimba secure wins
Bendel Insurance produced the biggest victory of NPFL Matchday 7, defeating Barau FC 4-1 in an emphatic performance.
Kayode Oke was the star of the show, scoring twice in the 33rd and 78th minutes before Suraju Lawal added a third in the 86th minute. Jonathan James completed the rout with a stoppage-time strike in the 90+4th minute.
Barau FC’s only response came through Aliyu Sugau, who converted a penalty in the 82nd minute.
Rangers International also secured a convincing 3-1 victory over Abia Warriors. Godwin Obaje opened the scoring in the 37th minute before Chidiebere Nwobodo doubled the advantage four minutes into the second half. Emeka Obioma pulled one back for Abia Warriors from the penalty spot in the 53rd minute, but Akorode Daniel sealed Rangers’ victory with a stoppage-time goal.
Enyimba FC recorded a 2-0 win over Plateau United, with goals from Ifeanyi Ihemekwele in the 29th minute and Richard Ezinna in the 68th minute.
Rivers United also kept a clean sheet, defeating Ikorodu City 2-0. Samson Olasupo gave the hosts the lead in the 19th minute, while Chinemerem Ugwueze added the second just before half-time.
Kwara United came from behind to beat Ranchers Bees 2-1. Jamilu Yusuf put the Bees ahead in the seventh minute, but Toheeb Gidado levelled for Kwara United in the 50th minute before Stephen Gideon completed the comeback in the 77th minute.
Doma United edged Warri Wolves 1-0, with Joshua Abah scoring the decisive goal in the 81st minute.
Niger Tornadoes also claimed a narrow 1-0 victory over Kun Khalifat, thanks to Ismaila Sarki’s 82nd-minute strike.
There was nothing to separate Shooting Stars and Nasarawa United as the two sides played out a goalless draw.
Inter Lagos and Katsina United shared the points in a 1-1 draw. Nura Abdulbari put Katsina United ahead in the 34th minute before Kevwe Iyede restored parity for Inter Lagos eight minutes later.
Kano Pillars and Sporting Lagos also played out a 1-1 draw. Abdullahi Musa scored for Kano Pillars in first-half stoppage time, while Valentine Ugwu equalised for Sporting Lagos three minutes after the restart.
