NSC DG affirms contribution of sports writers toward success of National Sports Festival

The Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Chief Bukola Olopade, has highlighted the essential contribution of sports writers in facilitating the success of the upcoming 22nd National Sports Festival.

This statement was made during a strategic meeting with the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), the Honorable Commissioner for Sports Development, Wasiu Isiaka, and members of the Ogun State Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN).

The meeting took place in the conference room of the Ministry of Sports Development in Abeokuta and underscored the significance of collaboration among the NSC, LOC, and sports journalists.

Chief Olopade characterized sports writers as crucial allies in advancing sports development, urging them to continue promoting the Ogun State government's preparedness to host a successful festival.

He praised Governor Dapo Abiodun's administration for its strong commitment to sports development, particularly through the establishment of modern facilities at various venues.

The NSC Director General pointed out that the enhancement and construction of sports infrastructure have not only improved the festival experience but have also generated employment for over 10,000 individuals, especially among the youth.

Dr. Kweku Tandoh, the Executive Secretary of the LOC, assured sports writers of the committee's dedication to ensuring the festival's success and encouraged all stakeholders to play their part in the event's achievement.

Chief Kayode Akinmade, the Special Adviser to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Information and Media Strategy, was also present, reinforcing the state government's commitment to the event.

Michael-Azeez Ogunsiji, the Chairman of the Ogun State Chapter of SWAN, expressed appreciation to the NSC and LOC for acknowledging the vital role of sports writers.

Ogunsiji stated, "We take pride in collaborating with the Ogun State government and the LOC to ensure the success of this festival. We will continue to showcase the state's preparations and ensure that the nation and the world see the greatness of Ogun State."

The meeting demonstrated the virile partnership between the NSC, LOC, and sports writers in driving the success of the next National Sports Festival.
