Northern Lions, Southern Sharks, Middle Belt Tigers and Central Eagles reach Nigeria Super League semifinals
Northern Lions, Southern Sharks, Middle-Belt Tigers and Central Eagles have secured their places in the semi-finals of the Nigeria Super League after an exciting round of matches in the country’s innovative cricket competition.
Southern Sharks claimed the final semi-final ticket on Monday with an impressive 35-run victory over Eastern Elephants in a rain-shortened five-over encounter. In a match where every ball mattered, the Sharks delivered a composed all-round performance, excelling with both bat and ball to seal a crucial win and keep their title hopes alive.
Northern Lions were the first side to confirm their place in the last four after a dominant run through the group stage. The Lions have won all four of their matches so far and currently sit top of the standings, establishing themselves as one of the strongest contenders for the inaugural title.
Middle-Belt Tigers also advanced to the semi-finals following a consistent campaign that saw them pick up important victories across the group phase, while Central Eagles booked their place among the final four with a series of results that kept them firmly in contention.
Attention now shifts to the knockout stage, with the semi-finals scheduled for Thursday as the battle for a place in the final intensifies.
The winners of both semi-final clashes will then face off in the grand finale on Saturday, May 30, where the first-ever Nigeria Super League champions will be crowned.
