Ryan Alebiosu's rapid rise sparks Blackburn Rovers buzz
Ryan Alebiosu has emerged as one of the standout stories of the season at Blackburn Rovers FC, capping a remarkable debut campaign with a nomination for the club’s Player of the Season award.
Arriving from KV Kortrijk last summer, the 24 year old right back wasted little time adapting to life at Ewood Park.
Under the guidance of manager Michael O’Neill, Alebiosu evolved from a new recruit into a dependable presence, earning praise for his consistency and work rate across the campaign.
His club form didn’t go unnoticed on the international stage, as he broke into the Nigeria national football team setup and featured at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
However, injury setbacks limited his involvement to just one appearance, with Nigeria eventually finishing third in the tournament.
Now firmly in the spotlight, Alebiosu faces stiff competition for the club’s top individual honour, going up against a strong list of contenders including Balázs Tóth, Sean McLoughlin, Lewis Miller, Eiran Cashin, Sondre Tronstad, Ryoya Morishita, Andri Gudjohnsen and Yuki Ohashi.
With growing interest from other clubs ahead of the summer transfer window, Alebiosu’s breakout season has not only elevated his status at Blackburn but also positioned him as one of the emerging Nigerian talents to watch in Europe.
