Senegal stun England 3-1 to secure historic win for Africa

Senegal became the first African team to defeat England since 1986, securing a stunning 3-1 win in an international friendly at the City Ground.

Following England’s narrow and uninspiring 1-0 victory over Andorra on Saturday, the Three Lions were hoping to make a stronger statement, but Senegal had other plans. Although Harry Kane gave England an early lead in the 7th minute, Senegal responded fiercely. Ismaila Sarr equalized just before halftime, setting the tone for a dominant second half.

Habib Diarra put Senegal ahead in the 60th minute, and despite England creating chances and having one goal ruled out for handball, they failed to find the net again. A poorly taken free kick by Noni Madueke gifted Senegal a counterattack opportunity, which Youssouf Sabaly clinically converted to seal the historic win.

Boos rang around the stadium at full-time. England manager Thomas Tuchel and captain Harry Kane both admitted the result was disappointing, emphasizing the need for swift improvement.
