Veterans deliver thrilling performances at Bet9ja Southeast Badminton Championship

The veteran category of the Bet9ja Foundation Southeast Badminton Championship provided some of the tournament’s most exciting moments, as seasoned players demonstrated experience, endurance, and sportsmanship at the Indoor Sports Multipurpose Gymnasium Hall of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.

One of the standout matches on the final day saw Enugu’s Oramalu Peter and Ikedi Eze mount a dramatic comeback to defeat the formidable pair of Aka Francis and Emmanuel Aniakor.

After dropping the first set 15–21, the Enugu duo regrouped impressively, adjusting their strategy to claim the next two sets 21–18 and 21–14.

The match drew loud applause from spectators, who were captivated by the veterans’ skill, composure, and competitive spirit, highlighting that experience remains a potent force in the sport.

Tournament officials praised the high standard of play in the veteran category, noting its contribution to the excitement and diversity of the three-day championship, which featured players from Abia, Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi, and Imo states.
