ASO SKY, MFM, Customs, First Bank reach NBBF Zenith Bank League semi-finals
ASO SKY Queens, MFM, Nigeria Customs and First Bank have secured places in the semi-finals of the 2026 Zenith Bank/NBBF Women’s Basketball League Final Eight in Lagos.
The four teams confirmed their passage to the last four after winning their opening two matches in their respective groups, leaving Thursday’s final group fixtures to determine the order of finish.
ASO SKY Queens emerged as one of the early surprises of the Final Eight, following up their opening 55-36 victory over Titans with a convincing 53-30 triumph against Bayelsa Blue Whales.
The Savannah Conference representatives finished the regular phase behind Nigeria Customs but have continued their strong form in the national finals.
Two-time champions MFM also secured their semi-final ticket after maintaining their winning run in Lagos. The former champions defeated Bayelsa Blue Whales 69-35 in their opening game before overcoming Titans in their second outing.
In Group B, Nigeria Customs began their campaign with a 55-41 victory over Air Warriors before producing another commanding performance against Victoria Queens, winning 61-26.
The Customs side had earlier completed the conference phase unbeaten and arrived in Lagos as one of the teams expected to challenge for the national title.
Record nine-time champions First Bank also sealed their place in the semi-finals after extending their winning start to the Final Eight.
First Bank defeated Victoria Queens 68-57 in their opening game before beating Air Warriors 54-39 in their second Group B encounter.
The result keeps the experienced Lagos-based side in contention for a 10th league title and their first championship since 2018.
Thursday’s final group matches will determine the winners and runners-up in the two groups, with Nigeria Customs scheduled to face First Bank while MFM take on ASO SKY Queens.
The other fixtures will see Titans play Bayelsa Blue Whales, while Air Warriors face Victoria Queens, as the teams outside the semi-final places battle to finish their campaigns on a positive note.
The Final Eight is being played at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, with the competition scheduled to conclude on October 3.
The tournament brings together the top teams from the Atlantic and Savannah Conferences after the completion of the two-phase regular season.
Defending champions Dolphins Basketball Club are absent from this year’s Final Eight after failing to secure one of the qualifying places from the Atlantic Conference.
The four remaining contenders will now battle for places in the championship game as the Zenith Bank/NBBF Women’s Basketball League moves into its decisive stage.
