Africa Championship: Nigeria Judo team begins training camp
The Nigeria Judo Federation has announced that the national judo team will commence a 30-day training camp at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, starting Thursday, March 20, 2025.
The camp, led by Sensei Suleman Musa, comprises 19 players and three coaches and is part of preparations for the Africa Judo Championships scheduled to take place in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, from April 25 to 28.
President of the federation, Dr. Musa Oshodi, emphasized the importance of the training camp in achieving Nigeria’s goal of qualifying for the next Olympic Games after narrowly missing out on the last edition. He called for collective efforts to ensure a strong representation at the global event.
"The goal to present a qualitative team at the Games is a collective responsibility. I therefore solicit everyone's support to realize this dream. Together, we are stronger," Dr. Oshodi stated.
He assured stakeholders that the secretariat would provide progress the camp progresses and encouraged them to contribute useful advice toward the team’s success.
