Agbara Nla The Return records over 71 million Naira in single-day preview screenings
Nollywood faith-based film, _Agbara Nla: The Return_, has generated more than ₦71 million from single-day preview screenings ahead of its official cinema release.
According to Nigerian Box Office (@NGAboxoffice), a Nigerian box-office analysis and consultancy platform, the film grossed about ₦70 million from 12,134 admissions during its preview period between September 25 and October 1.
The performance was described as the biggest single-day preview gross recorded in West Africa for the period, placing _Agbara Nla: The Return_ at number one.
The report also noted that the film’s 12,134 admissions marked the biggest first-day admissions figure recorded in 2026, while its ₦70 million gross represented the highest first-day gross for a Nollywood title.
The film also recorded the biggest single-day gross for October, according to the box-office analysis platform.
The Nile Entertainment, distributor of the movie, had earlier announced that _Agbara Nla: The Return_ achieved the biggest first-day gross for a Nollywood title and the biggest opening for a faith-based film.
The distributor said the film’s single-day preview earnings had exceeded ₦71 million, describing the performance as a major return for the franchise.
“This is the power of a story that never truly left us. This is cinema coming together for a moment that will be remembered,” the distributor said.
The film is now showing in cinemas nationwide, 33 years after the release of the original _Agbara Nla_.
_Agbara Nla: The Return_ is a modern reimagining of the 1993 Christian classic created by filmmaker Mike Bamiloye. The original was later released in English in 1994 as _The Ultimate Power_.
The new production revisits the story of Muwonleru, a village under the control of the powerful herbalist Isawuru.
In the film, two believers, Olaboye and Olatomi, leave their lives in the city to spread the Christian message in the community. Their mission brings them into conflict with Isawuru and his spiritual influence over the village.
Mike Bamiloye reprises his role as Isawuru, while Damilola Mike-Bamiloye and Joshua Bamiloye directed the new production.
The cast also features Aanu Kolade Abiodun, Remilekun Mosiko, Philip Olubakin, Gloria Mike-Bamiloye and David Kola Okeowo.
