Asisat Oshoala runs the show with brace and assist in Al-Hill five star finish

Asisat Oshoala signed off her league campaign in style, delivering a commanding performance with two goals and an assist as Al Hilal thrashed Eastern Flames 5–0 in the Saudi Women’s Premier League on Thursday.

After a quiet first half, Al Hilal returned from the break with renewed intensity, and it took just two minutes for Oshoala to make the difference. Latching onto a well-timed pass from substitute Al Bandari Mobarak in the 47th minute, the six-time African Player of the Year showed her trademark composure to slot home from close range.

That opener sparked a dominant spell. Kheira Hamraoui doubled the lead soon after, before Mobarak added a third in the 60th minute, capitalising after Eastern Flames goalkeeper Keikei had earlier denied Oshoala’s aerial effort.

Oshoala then switched roles from finisher to creator, setting up Hamraoui for her second of the game as Al Hilal tightened their grip. The Nigerian forward wasn’t done yet she returned to the scoresheet in the 80th minute, reacting quickest to a loose defensive clearance to complete her brace and cap a ruthless attacking display.

Her performance not only sealed an emphatic victory but also wrapped up an impressive debut league season, finishing with 12 goals and four assists. Across all competitions, Oshoala registered 24 goal contributions, underlining her influence in Al Hilal’s campaign.

With league duties concluded, attention now shifts to the SAFF Women’s Cup, where Al Hilal will face Al Qadsiah in the semi-finals on April 30, as they chase silverware to crown their season.

Elsewhere, Francisca Ordega was in action as Al Ittihad Women settled for a goalless draw against NEOM, while Super Falcons defender Ashleigh Plumptre continues her recovery after undergoing successful surgery on her left foot.
