Atume, Adegbuyi shine as Edo Queens sweep top honours at 2026 WAFU-B Women's Champions League
Edo Queens’ successful campaign at the 2026 CAF WAFU B Women’s Champions League Qualifiers has earned further recognition, with Atume Doosuur Anastasia winning the Golden Boot and teenage sensation Oluwakemi Adegbuyi named Best Player of the Tournament in Burkina Faso.
The two players were instrumental in Edo Queens’ title-winning run, helping the Nigerian champions claim the WAFU B crown and secure qualification for the CAF Women’s Champions League.
Atume finished as the tournament’s leading scorer with six goals. She opened her campaign with a brace against AS GNN before netting the decisive goal in the group-stage encounter against Ghanaian club Ampem Darkoa.
The prolific forward maintained her scoring form in the knockout rounds, scoring in the 17th minute of the semi-final to put Edo Queens ahead. She also found the target against USFA as the Nigerian side continued its march towards the title.
The Golden Boot caps a remarkable year for Atume, who also finished as joint-top scorer in the 2026 NWFL Premiership alongside Abiasiofon Uwah.
While Atume provided the goals, Adegbuyi emerged as the tournament’s outstanding individual performer, adding another major accolade to a breakthrough year.
The 16-year-old has enjoyed a rapid rise in Nigerian women’s football. She was previously named Best Player of the 2026 NWFL Premiership after an impressive season with FC Robo, where she scored three goals during the NWFL Super Six.
Adegbuyi has also made her mark on the international stage, representing Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, and helping them secure qualification for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
After joining Edo Queens, the teenager made an immediate impact by scoring on her debut. She later claimed Player of the Match honours against ASEC Mimosas during the WAFU B qualifiers.
Her consistent performances throughout the competition played a key role in Edo Queens’ success and ultimately earned her the tournament’s top individual award.
The recognition for Atume and Adegbuyi highlights the quality within the Edo Queens squad, with their individual brilliance complementing the team’s collective achievement of winning the WAFU B title and booking a place in Africa’s premier women’s club competition.
