Ayinde stars as Hacken beat Göteborg in Swedish Cup third round

Nigeria midfielder Halimatu Ayinde came off the bench as BK Häcken secured a 2-0 victory over IFK Göteborg in the third qualifying round of the 2026-27 Svenska Cupen Damer.

Ayinde was introduced in the 62nd minute as Häcken advanced with a comfortable victory over their Swedish opponents.

The Nigerian midfielder’s appearance adds another competitive outing to her club campaign as Häcken continue their domestic cup journey.

Ayinde, an established Super Falcons international, has remained an important figure in Nigerian women’s football and continues to compete at the highest level of Swedish club football.

Häcken’s victory means they progress from the third qualifying round of the Swedish Women’s Cup, maintaining their push for domestic silverware.

Meanwhile, fellow Nigerian forward Joy Omewa was not included in Häcken’s squad for the encounter.

The absence of Omewa means Häcken had Ayinde as the only Nigerian presence in the matchday squad, with the midfielder eventually entering the contest in the second half.

Häcken, the reigning Swedish champions and inaugural UEFA Women’s Europa Cup winners, continue to compete on multiple fronts this season.

For Ayinde, the latest appearance will also be welcomed as she continues to maintain her competitive rhythm ahead of Nigeria’s upcoming international engagements.

The midfielder will now turn her attention back to club duties as Häcken continue their campaign in Sweden.
