A tragic accident has resulted in the loss of lives among athletes from Kano.

A catastrophic event on the Dakatsalle bridge has resulted in the deaths of at least 21 athletes from the Kano State team who were returning from the National Sports Festival held in Abeokuta, Ogun State. Numerous others sustained injuries during the incident.

Umar Bala Fagge, the Chairman of the Kano State Sports Commission, verified that a bus transporting 30 athletes plunged off the bridge, leading to 19 deaths at the site.

Ado Salisu, the former Vice President of SWAN, indicated that additional victims were being transported to Kura General Hospital.

Sadly, one of the victims was the son of Salisu Jegus, a sports correspondent for Express Radio. This incident has profoundly impacted the sports community.
